Welcome to 1st Coaley Guides

Coaley is a small village near Dursley in Gloucestershire. We all wear the County Lion Badge on our uniform to show which county we come from. Coaley Brownies is one of the units that makes up Girlguiding Dursley District and we love to get together with the other units in the District for all sorts of events including parties and an annual swimming gala.

Dursley District is part of Gloucestershire West Division. This is our Division standard which is a flag that the Guiders carry on special occasions for the Division, like our Division AGM or a Regional Thinking Day event.

Outside the Meeting Place
Other than our weekly meetings Coaley Guides love to get out and about as often as we can. We have taken part in visits to WWT Slimbridge, the local Panto and even a weekend away at Disneyland Paris.

Holidays/Sleepovers
We usually go on at least one camp or holiday each year. In 2013 we joined girls from the rest of the District at a Scout Centre in Cranham where we completed our confectioners badge and managed to get every Leader soaked on different occasions!Next year we are planning to go back to the Malvern Challenge for it's final event.

We also like to hold sleepovers locally, usually in the village hall that we meet in. We try and hold them once a year.We have a summer themed sleepover planned for December.

What are Guides?
Guides are members of Girlguiding UK aged from 10 years old. Girls usually move on to Senior Section at 14. Each Guide belongs to a Patrol and each unit usually gets together regularly. For more detailed information about Guides or any of the other Guiding sections visit the Girlguiding UK website.

Our Meetings
We meet in Coaley Village Hall once a week during term time. We like to play games, make things, and anything else that the girls can think of that sounds like fun. Ultimately, Coaley Guides have fun!

The Guide Promise
All members of Guiding throughout the world share a commitment to a common standard. The UK Guide Promise is:
I promise that I will do my best:
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the Queen and my community,
To help other people
and
To keep the Guide Law.
